Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What exactly is included in the $5 PSA Grading Prep Service?
A: Our Basic Prep includes card inspection to confirm proceeding with grading, light dust removal (non-invasive), securing each card in a penny sleeve (soft case) and in a Card Saver (hard case), completed PSA-compliant packaging, and full completion and submission of paperwork. PSA grading fees and shipping costs are billed separately at cost.

Q: What if my card is autographed — does PSA grade it differently?
A: Yes! PSA offers two main options for autographed cards:

  1. Card Grade Only – PSA grades just the card itself (condition, centering, corners, surface, etc.). The autograph isn’t graded, but it will still be noted on the label.

  2. Dual Service (Card + Auto Grade) – PSA grades both the card and the autograph separately. For example, you might see a “PSA 9 / Auto 10” label. This is the most popular option if you want the signature’s quality officially recognized.

Q: Do you clean, press, or alter cards before submission?
A: No — we never alter or tamper with cards. We only do safe, light dusting with microfiber to remove surface particles. Trimming, pressing, or restoration of any kind is not part of our service (and is against PSA policies).

Q: How does shipping work?
A: You’ll ship your cards to us securely. We’ll provide packing instructions and optional shipping label guidance. Once prepped, we handle the outbound submission to PSA. After grading, cards are returned directly to you, or we can forward them to a vault/marketplace if you prefer.

Q: Do I need to pay PSA’s grading fee separately?
A: Yes. Our $5 fee covers prep only. PSA charges a separate grading fee per card, based on declared value and turnaround time. We submit your cards under your chosen PSA service level and pass along that cost transparently.

Q: Is insurance included?
A: Insurance is optional. You can add coverage for inbound shipping to us, while cards are in our custody, and outbound shipping to PSA. Coverage is declared at your stated value.

Q: Can you prep for other grading companies (BGS, CGC, SGC)?
A: No — We currently only prep submissions for PSA. We are currently looking into expanding our preparation services in the future.

Q: How long does the process take?
A: Prep is typically completed within 48-72 hours of us receiving your cards. PSA’s turnaround time depends on the service level you select (from economy to express). We’ll keep you updated at each stage.

Q: How do I track my cards?
A: You’ll receive order updates via email and you will be able to see grading status on your account page. You’ll always know whether your cards are in prep, en route to PSA, in grading, or on the way back.

Q: What happens if my cards are lost or damaged?
A: Our white glove service will handle your cards with extreme care as if they were our own. In the rare event of loss or damage, optional insurance (if purchased) covers your cards at the raw, ungraded value. The value of the cards will be based on the most recent sale on Ebay.

Q: Do you offer bulk discounts?
A: Yes. Larger submissions may qualify for discounted service fees. Contact us directly for bulk pricing or partnerships. Please email rob@myslablab.com for discount inquiries.

Q: Is this service right for me?
A: If you’re new to PSA grading, want to avoid paperwork errors, or simply don’t have time to prep and package cards, this service is perfect for you. For only $5 per card, you get peace of mind knowing your cards are PSA-ready.
